NATURE and CULTURE on Mt. OLYMPUS (self guided 8-day program)
Away from the mass tourism that descends on the coastal region during the summer, lay the spectacular mountain ranges of Olympus, Ossa and Pieria.
These mountains are home to very unique and diverse flora and fauna, a rich culture and deeply rooted traditions and stunning natural landscapes.
The three mountain ranges run north/south along the coastal plains of the Thermaikos Gulf and the northern Aegean Sea and are separated by river valleys and gorges.
It is this contrasting sea/mountain climate that forms the identity of its people and countryside, whether they live in the traditional mountain villages nestled in the foothills of the mountain or on the high mountain plateaus of Mt. Olympus and Pieria.
This area is home to humanities ancient cultures, which can be explored at archaeological sites like Dion and Vergina. In the vicinity of these world–famous sites are a multitude of little-known places with a rich, intriguing history, hidden in the mountains and valleys. These beautiful areas are some of the most diverse and fascinating landscapes in Europe. Nature-lovers and active outdoor-lovers, as well as people interested in culture and history, find an ideal backdrop for their holidays here.
Nature & Culture Olympus self-guided is a hotel based tour of medium difficulty where you hike in your own pace through the unforgettable region of Mount Olympus.
