Our 15-day trip combines the finest
trekking areas in Greece, starting from Vikos gorge - national
park and the well-preserved stone villages of Zagoria,
with the loveliest stone-laid paths, the natural pools,
and the high summits of Pindos Mountains with the Dragon
lakes, continuing to the remarkable Meteora, where "eagles-nest" monasteries
perch atop steep rocky pinnacles and finishing with a memorable
ascent of the Mountain of Gods - Mountain
Olympus.
Starting from Ioannina, we will depart for the heart of Zagori area to explore its traditional stony villages and walk on the impressive spiral staircase. Following Voidomati's riverbed, we cross Vikos gorge (longest in mainland Greece) to refresh ourselves in the natural pools of Papingo before our ascent to the mystical "Dragon Lake" and the stunning view to the high summits of Astraka and Gamila.
We will go on pilgrimage to the cliff top monasteries of Meteora, hiking between the huge rocky pinnacles.
With 2917m high, Mountain Olympus is not just the highest mountain in Greece, but also the legendary home of the ancient Greek gods. Staying overnight in the mountain refuges we will reach the Greece's highest summits, admiring the world like Zeus from his throne. We will sign with Muses in their plateau under the dramatic peak of Stefani, before descent to cross the spectacular Enipeas gorge, passing from cave-chapels and swimming in the river pools.

Day 1: Meet at the
airport of Ioannina and transfer to Tsepelovo, in the
heart of Zagori area, famed for its traditional villages
with the stone built churches and houses. (Overnight
in Tsepelovo)
Day 2 (5-6 hrs walk): From Tsepelovo will hike to the village of Vradeto and will continue to Beloi to enjoy the breathtaking view to Vikos gorge. The last part of our hike will be from Vradeto to Kapesovo village on the loveliest stone-laid path in the area of Zagori with the impressive spiral staircase. (Overnight in Monodedri)
Day 3 (5 hrs walk): From Monodedri we will descend in Vikos gorge, the longest in the mainland of Greece , until Vikos village. Following the riverbed of Voidomatis we will first reach the springs of Voidomatis and will need an extra hour to ascend to Vikos village. (Overnight in Vikos)
Day 4 (3 hrs walk): From Vikos we will follow the pretty paved path that leads to the chapel of Panagia and Voidomatis springs. From the springs will ascend to the village of Papingo . In the afternoon will have enough time to swim in the natural pools "Kolibithres" and relax under the shade of the rocky towers. (Overnight in Papingo)
Day 5 (7-8 hrs walk): Starting early in the morning, we will hike from the village of Mikro Papingo to the mountain refuge of Astraka mountain at the altitude of 1920 m. The ascent will take approximately 3 to 4 hours and will need an extra hour to continue to Drakolimni or "Dragon Lake", a mystical little lake with view to Gamila mountain and Aoos gorge. We return the same way back and we spend the night at Papingo. (Overnight in Papingo)
Day 6: Today will travel to Meteora. On our way will stop to visit the old city of Ioannina with its castle and the Pamvotis lake. We will have a lunch break at the city of Metsovo with its beautiful buildings and country site, to continue to reach the spectacular area of Meteora. (Overnight in Kastraki)
Day 7 (4 hrs walk): Starting early will hike between the huge rocks, using the same paths that the monks used in the past. The monasteries of Meteora have been built on the top of the rocks with a spiritual way. We will visit the monasteries of Varlaam and Megalo Meteoro and will return back to Kastraki village. (Overnight in Kastraki)
Day 8: Today will travel to Mt. Olympus and will stay at night at the first mountain refuge at the altitude of 938m. (Overnight in Refuge Stavros)
Day 9 (3-4 hrs walk): A short drive will take us at the area of Prionia, the starting point of our hike. We walk on the most well trodden path of Olympus through a pretty beech forest, to reach the refuge of Spilios Agapitos at the altitude of 2060m, where will spend the night. (Overnight in Refuge Sp. Agapitos)
Day 10 (6-7 hrs walk): From the refuge we will follow the classic route that leads to the highest summits of Greece . Firstly will ascend the summit of Skolio with altitude of 2904m and optionally will continue to scramble to Mytikas, the highest summit at an altitude of 2917m. (Overnight in Refuge Sp. Agapitos)
Day 11 (3-4 hrs walk): Today we will go to Musses plateau located at 2500m under the impressive summit of Stefani, the so-called Zeus throne. We will stay at the refuge of Apostolidis at 2700m. (Overnight in Refuge Apostolidis)
Day 12 (4-5 hrs walk): We will descend Olympus from the north side to reach again the refuge of Stavros. (Overnight in Refuge Stavros)
Day 13 (5-6 hrs walk): Today will cross the spectacular Enipeas gorge. On our way we will pass from the old monastery of St. Dionisios and the Agio Spileo, a cave-chapel and will have the chance to swim in the river pools. We will reach Litohoro and will transfer to Thessaloniki. (Overnight in Thessaloniki)
Day 14: Free day in Thessaloniki. (Overnight in Thessaloniki)
Day 15: End of trip after breakfast, we transfer you to the Thessaloniki airport at convenient time.
